Valif (vardenafil) is a prescription medication specifically formulated to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. As a potent and selective phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, Valif works by increasing blood flow to the penis, facilitating the achievement and maintenance of an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual activity. Its clinical efficacy is well-documented, offering a reliable therapeutic option for men seeking to overcome the physiological challenges associated with ED. Proper diagnosis and consultation with a healthcare provider are essential prior to initiation to ensure appropriate use and maximize therapeutic outcomes while minimizing potential risks.

Common use
Valif is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), a condition characterized by the consistent inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance. It is used by adult men and requires sexual stimulation to be effective. It is not indicated for use in women, children, or adolescents. Valif addresses the underlying hemodynamic issue of ED by enhancing the natural erectile response.
Dosage and direction
The recommended starting dose of Valif is 10mg, taken orally approximately 25-60 minutes prior to anticipated sexual activity. Based on efficacy and tolerability, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 20mg or decreased to 5mg. The dosing frequency should not exceed once per 24-hour period. The tablet should be placed on the tongue, where it will disintegrate without the need for water. It can be taken with or without food, although consumption with a high-fat meal may delay the time to onset of effect.
Precautions
Prior to taking Valif, patients should disclose their full medical history to their healthcare provider, particularly regarding history of cardiovascular disease, stroke, myocardial infarction, unstable angina, hypotension, hypertension, retinitis pigmentosa, anatomical deformation of the penis, Peyronie’s disease, bleeding disorders, active peptic ulceration, or hepatic/renal impairment. Use caution when rising from a sitting or lying position to avoid dizziness. This medication does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it may increase the risk of side effects like dizziness and hypotension.
Contraindications
Valif is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to vardenafil or any of the tablet’s excipients. Concomitant administration with any form of organic nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate or dinitrate) or nitric oxide donors is strictly contraindicated due to the risk of profound hypotension. It is also contraindicated in patients taking guanylate cyclase stimulators, such as riociguat. Use is contraindicated in men for whom sexual activity is inadvisable due to underlying cardiovascular pathology.
Possible side effect
Like all medications, Valif can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common side effects include headache, flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion, and dizziness. Less frequently, patients may experience back pain, myalgia, nausea, or blurred vision. In rare cases, priapism (a prolonged and painful erection lasting more than 4 hours) requires immediate medical attention to prevent permanent damage to the penis. Sudden decrease or loss of vision or hearing has been reported in connection with PDE5 inhibitor use and constitutes a medical emergency.
Drug interaction
Valif can interact with several classes of medication. The most critical interaction is with nitrates and nitric oxide donors, which is contraindicated. Concurrent use with alpha-blockers (e.g., doxazosin, tamsulosin) may lead to symptomatic hypotension. CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, erythromycin) can significantly increase vardenafil plasma concentrations, necessitating dose adjustment. Conversely, CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampin, phenobarbital) may decrease its efficacy. Concomitant use with other antihypertensive agents may potentiate the blood-pressure-lowering effects.
Missed dose
Valif is not intended for regular daily dosing but is taken on an as-needed basis prior to sexual activity. Therefore, the concept of a “missed dose” does not apply. If you do not take the tablet prior to planned intercourse, simply take it at the appropriate time before your next anticipated sexual activity, ensuring at least 24 hours have passed since any previous dose.
Overdose
In cases of suspected overdose, maximum PDE5 inhibition would be expected, potentially leading to severe manifestations of the known side effects, such as profound hypotension, syncope, and prolonged erection. Standard supportive measures should be employed, including cardiovascular monitoring. Given its high plasma protein binding, dialysis is not likely to be an effective means of accelerating elimination. Treatment of priapism requires immediate urological intervention. In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention or contact a Poison Control Center.
Storage
Store Valif tablets below 30Β°C (86Β°F). Keep the blister strips in the original outer carton to protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not use beyond the expiration date printed on the packaging. Properly dispose of any unused or expired medication according to local guidelines, not via household wastewater.

Reviews
“After struggling with ED for years, my urologist recommended Valif. The 10mg dose has been a game-changer. It’s reliable and the ODT form is very convenient. The effect is natural and has significantly reduced my performance anxiety.” β Mark T., 52
“I was initially prescribed another ED medication but experienced facial flushing that was quite uncomfortable. Switched to Valif and the side effects are much milder for me. It works consistently within about 30 minutes for me.” β David R., 48
“Important to follow the doctor’s advice on this. It works very well, but you must remember it’s not an aphrodisiac. Sexual stimulation is still required. It has helped restore intimacy in my marriage.” β Anonymous Patient
